The Problem
Me, and many others struggle to remember to do tasks, and have a hard time creating and keeping track of an effective way to remind ourselves.
Context:
- Studies suggest that humans forget approximately 50% of new information within an hour of learning it. That goes up to an average of 70% within 24 hours.
- Studies have also shown that complex, spatial and tactile information associated with writing on actual paper can lead to improved memory retention.

Observations
My current workflow is clunky and ineffective. There’s a large dissconnect between my physcial and digital reminders. I end up only focusing on one or the other depending upon my environment.
Insights
What is the best way to optimize the creation and effectiveness of reminders for people who struggle with memory retention?
Initial Concepts
- Main focus was combing the physical and digital aspects or reminders to get the best of both worlds.
- Through exploration, I found other technologies that I could leverage to my benefit.
- Also saw how some solutions could be intrusive to a user’s everyday flow, I’m seeking to make something less intrusive and streamlined.

Final Product
The user can write on a physcial sticky-backed note that they can place anywhere they deem effective for them. This note is also transcribed digitally and added to the app via the pressure sensitive pad beneath the paper.
The memo paper is the same size as a credit card, making it easy to hand off and store in another’s wallet or pocket.
Circling or scribbling out the icons on the bottom of the paper can digitze the note, mark it as urgent, and or send the note as an email to the user’s account.
- Memo’s app will allow users to store, track, and prioritize their reminders. It’s optimized for both mobile and desktop.
- The app can also affect the user’s calendars and alarms for better effectiveness.
- Family accounts can also be created, allowing users to create reminders for one another.
